I love using my Stampin’ Up! punches and thinlits in different ways, sometimes in ways that are a little unexpected.
My team of TaDa’s and I were having fun with the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack this past Tuesday at our weekly gathering. This DSP has photo images on one side and great graphic designs on the other.
While one group of TaDas were creating great cards with the ocean scene photo papers, I was busy playing with thinlits at the other table with a few other teammates.
I love the Sunshine Wishes thinlits and I like using these words on cards.
Especially on DSP like the Serene Scenery because it is so pretty, I don’t want to risk a bad stamping!
The word ‘sunshine’ is so cute, and you have seen me use the ‘hi’ out of that word before, but I like it so I used it again.
While we were looking at the other shapes in this set, it just occurred to me that the flower could be something else.
Quick! Pull out the 2 sets of Butterfly thinlits… the ‘Bold Butterfly thinlits’ and the ‘Butterflies thinlits’. Both these used together will create a nice layered butterfly.
Here they are attached to the back of the solid butterfly piece to suggest ‘motion’ on the card.
I cut the front of the butterfly from Basic Black and layered onto some Tangerine Tango.
The fine-tip glue was great to use to attach the thin lines of the black outlines to the base piece.
I did have a little bit of the glue show out from under the black.
But that didn’t matter, I wanted to add some glitter to my little fellow anyway!
Using the Gold and the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter pens allowed the butterfly sections to have a little color difference just like I wanted.
Here is the finished glittery butterfly on the cool realistic DSP.
The card base is black to tie in with the butterfly and the words.
The butterfly wings did well with a dimensional under each.
That added to the illusion of movement for the butterfly.
So that is my latest project, but summer TV has been so bad lately, I have been spending more evenings in the studio creating.
My hubby watches weird stuff so I hide out and watch chick flicks and craft.
Ahhhhh, good times! Check back soon to see what else is happening up there…
